From September 9-11, CMA Partner Michael Hartig spoke at the International Securities Association for Institutional Trade Communication (“ISITC”) conference in Washington, DC making a presentation about “Preparing for New Regulation”.
At the FTF (October 3) Conference on Corporate Actions Processing, he presented about the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act of 2009 (“FATCA”). He discussed the implications and challenges that firms are facing as they grapple with changes in the processing of Corporate Actions in order to comply with this developing regulatory framework (ie, yet to be finalized) under this law. He has more than 30 years of capital markets experience by way of providing a great deal of consulting to a wide range of financial institutions (Please see CMA’s website for Michael Hartig’s bio).
Among many developing and final regulatory, compliance, and technology issues facing the financial sector and on which he has provided many years of consulting, he is also expert on FATCA matters and has provided consulting including advisory/financial services consulting on the compliance for the yet to be final body of regulation under FATCA and associated regulatory framework.
Later in October, at the SCI 3rd Annual OTC Derivatives Seminar, CMA Partner Mike Zimits led the panel on and spoke about Collateral Management & Risk Management of non CCP-cleared trades. He made an excellent presention after which he moderated a strong industry panel on these instruments and the OTC trading complexities and collateral issues that market participants are experiencing now and in the future.
